What Window Cleaning Tools Do Professionals Really Use?
We have cleaned windows for many years. People ask us what our secret is. They try to clean their own windows. But they are left with a streaky mess. Our work makes the glass look like it is not there.
Skill is a big part of it. But the tools we use are also key. The tools a pro uses are not like store tools. Each tool we have does one job. That job is to clean well and be safe.
This guide shows you the tools a pro uses. We will open our tool kit. You will see what makes our work so good.
The Old Tools We Still Use
First, let’s look at the old tools. These tools have worked well for a long time. Our team still uses them to clean windows inside a home.
- The Pro Squeegee: The squeegee is the main tool. It takes the most skill to use right. A pro squeegee has a good handle. It holds a good rubber blade. We change our blades each day. This rule helps us stop streaks.
- The Scrubber: We use this to put soapy water on the glass. It is a T-bar with a soft cloth sleeve. The cloth is good at lifting dirt. It does not scratch the glass. It holds lots of water to help the squeegee slide.
- The Flat Bucket: Even our buckets are special. We use wide, flat buckets. This lets us dip the whole tool in the water. Some of our team use small buckets on a belt. This helps them move with ease.
- Long Poles: A long pole helps us clean high spots. It is a key tool for safety. A cleaner can stay on the ground. The pole holds the tools to clean high up.
Most people know these tools. A skilled user can do great work with them.
The New Way: Water-Fed Poles
The biggest new thing is the water-fed pole. We call it a WFP. We use this tool for most outside cleaning jobs.
A WFP is a long pole that can get longer. It is light. It can reach very high. A person can stay safe on the ground. A soft brush is at the end. A hose sends pure water up the pole to the brush.
How does it clean with just water?
The secret is the pure water. Our filters take out all the bad stuff. This pure water is a cleaner all by itself. It likes to grab dirt off the glass. The brush scrubs the dirt. The flow of pure water washes it all away.
The window dries all on its own. It has no spots. So we do not need to use a squeegee. It is a great way to get clean windows. It uses no soap. So it is good for the earth.
How We Make Pure Water
The pole is just one part of the job. The real skill is in making the pure water. We have special gear in our vans to do this.
- TDS Meter: We use a tool called a TDS meter. It checks how pure the water is. Tap water has lots of bad stuff in it. For a clean with no spots, the water must be pure. It must read zero on our meter. We test the water for each job.
- DI Tanks: One way to clean water is with DI tanks. Water goes through a tank. The tank has beads that trap bad stuff. It is a good and simple way to clean water.
- RO Systems: RO systems are one more good way. Water is pushed through a fine sheet. The sheet blocks most bad stuff. A DI tank then makes it all pure. We use RO for our vans. It works well and saves us cash.
Knowing all about water helps us do a great job.
The Most Key Kit: Safety Tools
I will be very clear. This part is for pros only. They must be taught how to use these tools. Working up high is not safe. We have no short cuts for safety.
- Ladders: Our teams use strong work ladders. We have a rule for safety. We must use a stand off. This keeps the ladder off the wall. It is not worth the risk to our team.
- Harnesses and Ropes: For very tall jobs, our team uses a harness. They use ropes and strong hooks. They have a card that says they are taught to do this work. There are strict rules for this kind of work.
- Cones and Signs: A good pro thinks of your safety. You will see our cones and signs. They keep you safe from our work area. This shows we are a good firm that you can trust.
The Right Tool for a Great Job
So what are the best tools for the job?
A pro has lots of tools. The real skill is to know which tool to use. Each job may need a new tool.
The choice is often old tools or the new pole. Both are good. The best one will rest on the home and its needs.
